We are turning up the heat this Christmas by stocking the Carcoon, a protective automobile storage system.
The Carcoon is a shielding cover for cars, which protects them from the environment. It has two air treatment units which operate continuously to provide a circulating airflow inside the storage unit, protecting the car from damaging elements in the outside air.
The deoxidising carbon filters effectively remove many airborne contaminants, which can cause oxidation and corrosion of unprotected metals, keeping the circulating air dry and clean.
The Carcoon includes a base mat for the car and the top cover is placed over the vehicle and fastened to the base using the zipper. After the Carcoon is plugged into the power supply, the car is stored in its own protected environment ensuring that the Carcoon maintains the battery of the stored automobile in optimum condition.
Carcoons are available now in regal red and cost £388.99 from the Aston Workshop or at www.astonparts.com

Question:
What do you recommend I do to store my car over the winter months?
Answer:
The most important aspect of laying any car up for the winter is find a storage place that is secure, dry and well ventilated. This is the most important thing you should do. After that is to ensure that the car is thoroughly cleaned, inside, outside and particularly underneath. Any lingering mud deposits will harbour damp and this leads to corrosion. Areas for particular concern are around the wheel arches, but also look around jacking points, suspension mountings and behind the rear wheel arch under the boot floor. If funds permit, the use of a bubble is a very good idea and if your storage site has a tendency to encourage damp, then a bubble becomes essential to preserving the condition of your car”.
It is good practice to ensure everything is well lubricated before the car is laid up. Don’t forget handbrake linkages, throttle linkages, door latches and hinges etc.

We have recently been tasked with restoring a DB2 which once belonged to the inspiration behind the DB series and owner of Aston Martin, David Brown.
The car also featured in the 1954 film ‘The Devil on Horseback’ which starred Googie Withers and John McCallum and we have been searching for months to find a copy of the film but have so far had no luck!
If you can find a copy of The Devil on Horseback, please send it to Clive Dickinson at The Aston Workshop.
The first person to find a copy of the film will win a 24” by 20” piece of Aston Art which can be chosen from www.astonart.com. Next month we will be revealing the winner as well as the full story behind the car and its journey to the Aston Workshop so good luck! |
