As one of the leading specialists in classic Aston Martin motorcars, we are increasingly asked for left hand drive cars. The availability of such cars is extremely limited.
This is really not that surprising, when one bears in mind that only some 10% of those Aston Martins manufactured up until the introduction of the DB7 were produced Left Hand Drive cars. As a result, we find ourselves increasingly asked “Can you do a right to left hand drive conversion?” We are perfectly equipped and always delighted to answer – “Of course”
Many customers may well think that changing the specification of any rare car, such as an Aston Martin, would detract from both its originality and value. This may be the case if major changes are envisaged to the appearance or there is a major deviation from the original specification in some major mechanical item, such as fitting a Jaguar engine into a DB4. Indeed many clients may recall that years ago when Austin-Healeys and Jaguar E-Types were returning to these shores from the United States, many conversions lowered the value of the car concerned. This was, sadly, largely as a result of the poor quality and lack of adherence to the original specification, and DETAIL of the right hand drive product. Here at The Aston Workshop that has NEVER been the case.

Rob Keereweer, a daring Dutchman, had his dream of an Aston Martin Zagato recreated by the Aston Workshop towards the end of last year. Last month he joined the famous Italian Mille Miglia race from Brescia to Rome and back to enjoy his Aston to the full.
“As a non-official participant I was able to fully use the potential of the Aston and I am happy to say that the car drove fantastic and never missed a beat. Furthermore the road handling was excellent and me and my friend Hans really enjoyed the car. I think this is a compliment to The Aston Workshop and the team that built my car.”
Apart from the excellent driving experience Rob enjoyed with his newly built Aston Martin Zagato, joining the Mille Miglia had also its pleasures along the way, as Rob excitedly continues “when I stayed in Brescia in Hotel Arzaga the complete Mercedes crew was there. Sir Stirling Moss, Kimi Raikonen and David Coultard stayed in the same hotel. Mercedes had taken the original 300 SLR from 1955 which was driven by Stirling Moss, when he took the fastest time ever on the Mille Miglia in 1955. Mercedes had also brought the brand new McLaren Mercedes SLR Moss specification. The original 300 SLR was driven by Coultard in this year’s Mille Miglia while Raikonen drove the new one.”
The Aston Workshop is pleased to have provided Rob with a Zagato that may render many more unforgettable memories. The Aston Workshop offers DB4 GT Zagato recreations to special order. Our recreations are faithful reproductions of the original cars, of which only 19 were made between 1960 and 1962.

times are unlikely to be long lived and prospective
buyers are encouraged to make a decision soon, before
this favourable period passes.

Aston Workshop offers a full menu of fixed price servicing for every
Aston Martin model at a highly competitive price. Our aim is to offer
real value for money.
Every service comes with a health check report
covering every aspect of the car, as well as the full range of lubrication
operations, mechanical checks and tuning of the engine, all to the
original service schedules. If an MoT is required, then this can be simply
programmed in, as can any other repairs. Perhaps some enhancement,
some stone chip repairs or trim or just simple rust protection. On
completion the car will be given a thorough valet as a standard part
of the service.

Question:
I run an Aston Martin automatic V8, and with fuel costs and the current lazy performance that comes with the present 3 speed box, it would be a considerable advantage to be able to replace it with a more modern 4 or 5 speed auto, and in doing so, reduce the fuel consumption and improve range and performance. What are the realistic options?
Answer:
As the question implies, gearbox design has come on leaps and bounds since the mid 60's and 70's. In those days the only auto's available used 3 speed autos, all adapted from those used by many mainstream US made cars. They have given good service; there are many of them around, but they are heavy, power sapping and inherently lazy in response. In contrast, modern gearboxes, often with up to 6 speeds have lock-up clutches, are much more efficient and permit a much improved optimisation of gearing to aid performance with marked improvement in fuel consumption.

Bonhams returned to Works Service for their 10th Anniversary Auction this May.
Despite the prevailing economic climate and predictions of doom and gloom, 200 lots of automobilia changed hands for very respectable prices, most notable would be the Racing Archives of Lionel Martin himself. They are believed to have been saved for the UK by a noted Aston Collector, and Aston workshop customer.
Once the car section came to start, after luncheon, auctioneer James Knight seemed to carry on just where he left off in 2008. Once the amazingly eye catching specially finished gold and platinum DB7 had crossed the block to a telephone bidder, the prices climbed steadily.

It was, sadly, not to be a 50th anniversary present to remember for the Lola-Aston Martin team at the French classic this year.
Despite a very well presented and superbly executed team effort from the Gulf Backed squad, they were 'piped' to the podium by a little under three laps. The pace of the Peugeots proved the class of a star studded field. The Audis were almost literally "blown into the weeds" – although, had the all-star McNish/Kristensen car not suffered ECU and steering-wheel maladies, it could have been a LOT closer "up the sharp end".
