Classic Cars Challenge China

It's been a very busy summer for Aston Workshop with lots of great classic events and some very interesting projects, but this hasn't stopped the team preparing for the Classic Cars Challenge China Rally which takes place on the 9th - 21st October.

We are all familiar with the incredible statistics associated with China, a country with over 5000 years of history, home to quarter of the world’s population and boasting phenomenal landscapes, but it has only recently embraced the world of classic car ownership and the concept of rallying such beauties.

The Classic Cars Challenge China was formerly known as The China Rally of International Classic Car and in 2011 the “China Rally” was the first and largest event of classic cars ever held in the region. The following year, 40 cars from 16 countries and 7 car manufacturers participated and there were more than one million spectators!

This is a very important project for Aston Workshop as it forms part of our long-term business strategy for the region and China in particular. We already have a significant presence including a dedicated Chinese website, but events such as this are vital for customer awareness as well as being great fun of course.

We are really excited to announce our collaboration with artist Kevin Day to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Aston Workshop.

Kevin's work can best be described as figurative narrative and he is renowned for capturing the mood of the moment, a style which we believe adds a whole new dimension to the world of Aston Martin art. Whilst the cars undoubtedly figure prominently in each painting, they are not the only point of interest and your eye is quickly drawn to the exquisite detail of the painting as a whole and the narrative reaches far beyond that of normal automotive art.

A drive down memory lane with David Brown’s Grandson
As part of a photo-shoot for a forthcoming edition of Vantage magazine, Aston Workshop's Clive Dickinson was recently invited to Huddersfield to meet Adam Brown, the grandson of David Brown.

The photo-shoot took place outside of a hotel that was once the magnificent family home where Adam had grown up with his grandfather. The pictures will feature in the winter edition of Vantage magazine along with recollections from Adam of those early days.

Tractor manufacturer David Brown bought Aston Martin in 1947 and in 1950 the company announced the DB2 followed by the DB2/4 in 1953 and the DB2/4 MkII in 1955.

Goodwood

2013 included Aston Worksop's second year as exhibitors at the fantastic Goodwood Revival, and despite the soggy conditions an excellent weekend was had by all.
This year the event witnessed a new world record price for an Alfa Romeo sold at auction. The car in question, an ex-Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo 8C-35 Grand Prix car, selling for a cool £5,937,500.

Aston Workshop displayed three classics from our range of cars for sale, an Aston Martin LHD V8 Coupe – 1978, Aston Martin DB2 Vantage DHC – 1953 and an Aston Martin V8 to Vantage Spec - 1984. Further details on each car can be found by clicking on the links above.

Kensington

Most of you will be aware by now of the Aston Martin Centenary Concours d’Elegance which took place on the 21st July on the lawns in front of Kensington Palace. It was a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Aston Martin and without doubt one of the most important gatherings in the company's history.

The significance wasn't lost on our team members who felt honored to have been part of the event. The weather was fantastic and the display of Astons simply unprecedented, all in all a great weekend with the some really fantastic memories to cherish.

DBS Vantage – 1970

This particular DBS conjures up an image of the super stylish 70's, evoking the period perfectly with it's special order Verde Aqua/Light Sand colour scheme and chrome wire wheels, the epitome of cool and nothing short of astonishing at the time.

This is a rare opportunity to own a really fine example of this sublime Aston, with much work undertaken and an extensive history file dating all the way back to 1970!

DB2 Vantage DHC- 1953

A model that is both very rare and fast appreciating, this beautiful DB2 Vantage Drophead Coupe is the epitome of glamorous motoring.

In Almond Green with a saddle brown interior, this RHD example exudes style and sophistication, a car that definitely ‘stands out from the crowd’, even in such hallowed company as the collection here in our showroom at the Aston Workshop.

N400 Vantage Roadster- 2008

Aston Martin released the limited edition N400 to commemorate the company's racing successes at the Nürburgring, and there can be no better way to enjoy the glorious sound produced by the N400’s 4.3L V8 (tuned to 400 bhp, hence the name) than to opt for the roadster version of this stunning car.

V8 Volante LWB- 1999

Aston Workshop are pleased to offer for sale this fantastic Aston Martin V8 Volante LWB, one of only 63 made!

The V8 Volante LWB was the last production Volante to be made at Newport Pagnell and it represents everything that is great about this era of Aston Martin.

With room for four, one of the most luxurious cabins you will ever find and a silky smooth 354bhp V8, it is without doubt one of the finest convertibles Aston have ever made.
