Forgotten about under cobwebs or left untouched languishing under a thick layer of dust, is a rare, once in a life opportunity for someone with optimism, imagination and conviction.

These original Aston Martins have usually been in the hands of their owner for many years, and free from molestation they present a fabulous opportunity to revive a part of motoring history. So few of these wonderful cars were made to begin with, that each “find” is of genuine significance.

Aston Workshop participated in the Classic Cars Challenge China Rally. 148 vehicles were entered into the competition two of them were ours, a 1956 Aston Martin DB2/4 MKII and a 1974 Maserati Merak SS.

Several international car manufacturers revealed a strong interest in the 4C; Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Brabus, Porsche, Bentley, Volkswagen, Volvo, Maserati, Jaguar and of course Aston Martin participated in the event.

1. What is your role at Aston Workshop?
Bookkeeper; It involves balancing and maintaining accounts as well as helping our workshop manager with client contact and the restoration processes.

2. Have you worked anywhere other than Aston Workshop?
Yes, after leaving school I worked for a firm of accountants.

3.What do you enjoy best at work?
Working with John Gray, our workshop manager and dealing with the "restoration" customers. Witnessing these lovely old Astons being brought back to life is truly amazing.

As you may have already heard, Aston Martin is recalling more than 17,000 cars because of a potentially defective part.

'Get it replaced'

The firm is recalling a total of 17,590 cars - 1,553 in the UK - including all of its left-hand-drive models built since November 2007 and all right-hand-drive models built since May 2012, affecting about 75% of all cars built in those periods.

The recall applies to all cars apart from the new Vanquish coupe and Volante models.
