Supplied new to Peter Lurch, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. On 20th July 1961 Original Registration No:- NY 3645 W History:- Car was converted for racing in the late 60's and fitted with a 12 plug Indianapolis Cooper-Aston GT Engine. (As documented in the AMOC Specials Register) Car imported back to the UK in 1990. Chassis was then shortened by Shapecraft and a new Zagato body commissioned from Church Green Engineering Ltd of Semley, Dorset. As all 19 original cars were slightly different, the best features were taken from a number of cars to produce what was thought to be the optimum shape and the car was subsequently painted in Aston Martin Project Racing Green. (A colour reserved usually for works cars only) Engine is now back to the original DB4 GT format 3.7 litre fitted with new Aston Martin Factory supplied Twin Plug Cylinder Head and ancillaries completely rebuilt using new triple Webber Carburettersand manifolds, all by Jonathan Wardle, renowned ex- factory engine builder who has been involved in many racing projects with Aston Engineering, Derby. Engine then dyno and bench tested. Fitted Hardened Valve Seats and guides for Unleaded Fuel. Gearbox is original 4-speed David Brown, with new heavy duty clutch Balanced together with flywheel. Differential is 4.09 Powerlock Limited slip. Factory reconditioned. Suspension is standard DB4 GT set up using new components. Brakes are standard DB4 GT `Balanced Bar' Twin master cylinders ( as only fitted to GT cars) with DB5 Discs and callipers. Fuel tank is standard GT variant, painted, as they were originally, in satin black. Original GT pick-up and sender units fitted. Trim is to be in Dark Green Connolly Hides, with special racing seats (as fitted to Project 214). Dashboard as original, one piece, Zagato style painted in original satin black. Instruments as per DB4 GT. Door panels, under dash panels and aluminium grab/window handles are all original Zagato and were taken from 2 VEV in the early 1960's by Andy Chapman, who then was in charge of the works racing project, where the car was constantly weight reduced. A nice touch! This is an exciting opening to purchase an almost complete recreation project, with the opportunity of specifying your own final details.
