This car is the finest DB 2/4 we have ever seen. Totally original, she has been sympathetically restored, is totally unblemished and has a complete authenticated history from new.
Used sparingly, it has travelled the unbelievably low authenticated mileage of only 9,067 Miles. A true time warp machine, this car utterly defies description. Should the new owner require it, a LHD drive conversion could be possible.
The DB2/4 car introduced from late 1952 and included a number of significant changes from its predecessor model, the DB2. This included raising the roof line to accommodate 2 vestigial rear seats, the introduction of a rear hatch, (the first true hatchback), and to accommodate this extra weight, an increase engine size and power. In short the car was transformed into one that the family man could use too. It remains to this day an amazingly practical, beautifully constructed package, whether for club racing at one extreme or in which one can just go down to the shops at the other. It remains a brilliant long distance touring car for the age of the car. They have a surprisingly taut, rattle free ride and are surprisingly modern in general feel, especially when sympathetically upgraded with assisted brakes, electric power steering and more modern radial ply tyres.. Not surprisingly they have a loyal following and seldom change hands.
To accommodate a more trans Atlantic appeal, the DB2/4 Mk2 was introduced from late 1955. It came with additional brightwork, minor change to bonnet construction and better front seats. The chassis and engine specifications were carried over unchanged. A total of 199 were constructed of which there were 16 drop-head and 34 fixed head coupes and 145 saloons made.
The car we have comes with a full pictorial and documented file. It is car without fault, having been resprayed to an exceptional standard. Engine, suspension, brakes and general running gear have all been carefully examined, cleaned and those parts that suffer from age replaced. She has been given some important, reversible but quite in character upgrades, of which the electric power assisted steering is the most important. She has had the benefit of a brake servo and radial ply tyres. In all other respects the car remains totally original. The upholstery has been cleaned and the leather carefully fed and with a delightful patina that reflects the mileage that she has travelled
It is a car that has all the appearance of being brand new. She is fine credit to all those 3 owners who have been entrusted with her ownership and she now deserves and needs a new owner who will cherish this car for what she is, a product of the finest coachbuilders and car constructors that graced England in the 1950s. She comes with a full health check report and the original now time expired Aston Martin guarantee. There are presently no known defects.
