When stripping cars at Aston Workshop ahead of a full restoration, an issue we commonly see is damage to the fuel system originating from corrosion of the fuel tanks. The original steel tanks are particularly prone to corrosion, yet by the time the corrosion has been detected the damage has already been done. Painted silver, original tanks may pass an external visual inspection while inside the tank the corrosion has reached a critical point.
We manufacture brand new fuel tanks from aluminium. Made to the exact same shape and design as the original tanks, and painted the same shade of silver, our tanks are visually indistinguishable from originals yet offer a range of benefits. Aluminium is far more stable when in contact with fuel and doesn’t succumb to the same corrosion issues. They are also lighter weight and will last much longer allowing you to enjoy your classic Aston for many years to come.
We can also adjust the design to allow for more fuel to be held (and a corresponding longer range), or convert your car to use twin tanks allowing for the fitment of period-correct air conditioning systems.
