Fitment: DB4, DB5, DB6, DB6 MK2, DBS, V8
It's fair to say that the automatic gearbox options offered by Aston Martin in period were very much 'of their time', far behind the transmissions used in modern grand tourers. Often with very few ratios too widely spaced apart, and incredibly inefficient in terms of power delivery, the original automatic transmissions can be improved upon after decades of engineering enchantment.
Aston Workshop have long been carrying out modern automatic gearbox upgrades for classic Aston Martins, and as such have developed a series of simple packages that can update the drive of a heritage Aston while maintaining the character of the car.
For DB4, DB5, and DB6 models:
- Modern Aston Workshop 4-speed - The ultimate upgrade for DB4, DB5, DB6 and DBS is to use the Aston Workshop Modern 4-speed automatic transmission offering smoother changes between ratios and better utilisation of power and torque available from the engine.
For DBS V8 and V8 models:
- Modern Aston Workshop 4-speed - Suitable for standard V8s, our 4-speed modern automatic gearbox can be utilised. For higher power engines, such as an original V8 vantage or one of our Evolution 6.0 V8s, we would recommend our 6-speed auto option.
