Fitment: DB4, DB5, DB6, DB6 MK2, DBS

The ultimate braking upgrade for your 1960s Aston Martin, the AW big brake kit has been developed over decades of restoration at Aston Workshop. Fitted to many of our restoration projects, our big brake kits have been developed over decades of use and represent the ultimate in modern braking capability for classic Astons. As with most of our enhancements, the specific set up of the our brake kits can be adjusted to suit your particular car and needs rather than being a one-size-fits-all package.

Depending on the model of Aston Martin you own we offer a range of options to match the character of your car:

DB4 (Single Circuit System)

• The original Dunlop piston cylinders can be replaced with modern units, machined from aluminium billet and with modernised internals and seals, that fit within the original caliper housings.
• An alternate upgrade for the original DB4 braking system would be to upgrade to DB4 GT specification. The DB4 GT came as standard with Girling CR type calipers, which are still available today, and twin master cylinders (without servo) with a front/rear adjustable bias. Aston Workshop can fit all of the upgrades required to carry out this conversion to GT specification.
• Finally, we offer a range of upgrades for twin-circuit braking systems as seen on the DB5, DB6 and DBS. We can carry out the appropriate upgrades to your DB4 to allow for twin-circuit braking unlocking the below optional brake enhancements. 

DB4, DB5, DB6 and DBS (Twin Circuit System)

• We have two options available for the front brakes of these cars:
  • Stage 1 Upgrade - Utilises four-piston billet aluminium calipers paired with original discs. This upgrade could be considered a straight-swap, with no modification to the car needed. Also included is modern brake pads and stainless steel braided lines. The stage 1 upgrade gives improved stopping power, better brake feel and an increase in reliability of the braking system.
  • Stage 2 Upgrade - Utilises six-piston billet aluminium calipers paired with larger, vented discs. This upgrade represents the ultimate in classic Aston Martin braking, with an increase in stopping power paired with improved heat dissipation from the vented discs. Also including stainless steel braided lines and modern brake pads, this upgrade brings the braking system of your Aston into the 21st century. As the calipers and discs are larger than the original units, wider wheels are required for fitment of this upgrade.
• We also offer an upgrade for the rear brakes of these cars:
  • Rear Brake Upgrade - Utilises four-piston billet aluminium calipers paired with original discs. With no modification to the car needed, this straight-swap upgrade to the rear braking system is the final step in the total modernisation of a classic Astons brakes. Also included is modern brake pads and stainless steel braided lines. This rear brake upgrade gives improved stopping power, better brake feel and an increase in reliability of the braking system.
