DB4 'Bullet' Engine

Fitment: DB4

Similar upgrades available for: DB5, DB6, DB6 Mk2, DBS

At Aston Workshop we aim to produce engines which far surpass original levels of reliability and performance. With the benefit of modern materials, machining techniques and lubricants we build high performance engines to a high specification. The Aston Workshop DB4 ‘Bullet’ engine came about after identifying the need for a power and torque increase whilst retaining an original look as possible. To produce the Bullet engine, we implement a number of internal improvements and modifications, none of which are easily externally detectable.

The standard 3.7 litre DB4 cylinder block is a sound starting place for the capacity upgrade to 4.2 litre capacity. To accomplish the upgrade the cylinder block is machined for the oversize liners and the oil and waterways are upgraded.

The cylinder head is also completely re-worked, including:

  • New unleaded valve seats.
  • Larger diameter inlet and exhaust valves.
  • Oversize camshaft buckets.
  • New valve guides.
  • Vantage-spec valve springs.
  • New valve collets.
  • Modified ports to improve airflow which are matched to the inlet manifolds.
  • Aston Workshop upgraded camshafts are also fitted.

The block receives the following after expansion to 4.2L capacity:

  • Forged connecting rods.
  • Forged pistons.
  • New clutch and flywheel assembly.
  • AW Low Inertia Crank and fluid damper.

The result is an engine package providing a substantial increase in torque and power right across the rev range. The above specification is of course available to be finely tuned to match your desired performance and budget.
