Fitment: DB4, DB5, DB6, DB6 Mk2, DBS
A new development at Aston Workshop is our in-house manufactured DB4 GT cylinder head. The DB4 GT head features twin ignition systems with two distributors and two spark plugs per cylinder, and was originally developed to give improved reliability for the Aston Martin race cars of the 1960s. Benefiting from decades of advancement in material science and machining practices, our heads allow for engine rebuilds, or brand new crate engine builds, to be done to DB4 GT specification.
Although the GT head originated as an upgrade on the DB4 we have developed a kit that allows fitment to the DB5, DB6 and DBS. For example, the DB5 and DB6 engine bays have heater boxes that would normally interfere with the twin-distributor setup of the GT head. Aston Workshop have developed a different heater box and associated pipework that allows for the distributors to fit within the engine bay.
Also included with the GT head enhancement is an upgrade to electronic ignition. Our modern electronic ignition systems are designed to maintain the appearance of a period-correct distributor while being far more reliable. The removal of all mechanical parts from the ignition system ensures the setup is far more resistance to wear and tear.
Finally, to achieve full GT specification an upgrade to use triple Weber carburettors is carried out. This will bring your Aston in line with the DB4 GT race cars of the 1960s, some of the most iconic grand tourers to ever compete.
