When Ron Powell asked Aston Workshop if it would be possible to produce a hardback book featuring the restoration of his beloved MKIII, we were only too happy to oblige.
Using Clive Dickinson's extensive knowledge of graphic design and printing and the words of Quentin Parker, Aston Workshop have put together a fantastic record of the complete restoration process which also features the superb photography of Tim Wallace.
The result is actually far more comprehensive than a mere restoration log, featuring chapters on the MKIII in general, the restoration of this particular car, a diary, scanned images of the history files plus information on all Aston Martin models and the history of the company.
Ron was over the moon with the results and we thought that was the end of the story, but we were more than a little surprised when Ron asked if we could put together a second book. There were also a few raised eyebrows when Ron declared that this book would be a diary of the cars time since his acquisition but written from the cars viewpoint!
The result is actually very entertaining and informative as well as unique. Something the Powell family is sure to treasure for many years to come.
Ron is pictured here handing a copy of his restoration book to the cars previous owner, John Herring.
