Reliability, flexibility and refinement
Using the original cylinder block and head, does have its limitations, but there is a range of enhancements, which would be of benefit in any engine of this type. They are:
- New forged steel crank. To reduce the effects of torsional vibration and improve longevity
- New re-designed, solid 4 bolt "cheeses"
- Cylinder head modifications to allow for larger valves and unleaded fuel
- Solid State ignition for reliability
- Increased capacity oil pump for reliability and longevity
- Improved engine cooling – aluminium radiator and electric fan
Complementary transmission recommendations
-
A higher rear axle ratio from 3.77 to 3.31 or 5 speed gearbox
Complementary Brake and Hub modifications
-
Front Disc Brakes
-
New front and rear hubs to overcome known design weaknesses
-
Brake servo
-
Consideration could also be given to modifying the braking system to accommodate separate front and rear brake hydraulic circuits.
-
72 spoke wire wheels and radial tyres
